Choosing an IPTV setup is easier when you understand what each part does. This MuchCast guide focuses on the steps that can be tested, rather than relying on unverifiable ratings or promises.
What an electronic programme guide provides
An EPG shows programme titles, descriptions and broadcast times in a television interface. Depending on the service and app, guide data may be imported from a separate source and periodically refreshed. A missing programme title is not always a video playback failure.
Check the time zone chosen in the player, the provider guide settings and whether guide data was refreshed recently. A schedule shifted by one hour can sometimes relate to daylight-saving-time handling rather than the broadcast itself.
Catch-up is not automatically included
Catch-up or replay allows certain broadcasts to be watched after they aired. Availability can differ by channel, programme and content licence. A replay icon in an application does not guarantee that a given sports event or film can be replayed.
Ask which channels support replay, for how many days and in which regions. Test a real example during the trial and confirm that seeking and playback start work on your chosen device.
A quick sequence for diagnosing failures
If live video plays but the guide is blank, refresh the programme data and verify the guide source. If programme information is visible but catch-up fails, check whether the specific broadcast is available for replay.
When reporting a problem, include the local date, channel, programme title and player application. That information is more useful than a general statement that IPTV is not working.
